1. So, why is Huawei so important to the U.S.? It’s all about competition. Not only is the telecom giant a rival of major western companies, but Huawei is also seen as a global leader in 5G, the ultra-fast wireless technology that will soon be connected to everything.
2. That’s good for China, and bad for the U.S. Washington worries that if Huawei wins the race to develop 5G technology, Americans could one day be forced to buy equipment from the company.
3. And right now, no U.S. companies are seen as major competitors in this area. The biggest contenders are Sweden’s Ericsson and Finland’s Nokia.
4. But that’s not all. Because the company is so big and because its technology is used all over the world, the U.S. worries that Beijing could force the company to engage in nefarious activities.

目前，在这一领域，美国还没有能与之匹敌的公司。（华为）最大的竞争对手是瑞典的爱立信公司和芬兰的诺基亚公司。
但这还不是全部。因为这家公司实在是太大了，并且它的技术全世界都在使用。美国担心北京（中国政府）会迫使这家公司从事一些罪恶勾当。
