A TV program I’ve been quite fond of lately is Dragon’s Den. If I am not mistaken, this TV series has various versions in different countries all over the world, but the one I’ve been watching is the British version.
It’s sort of like a reality TV show, featuring entrepreneurs pitching their business ideas in order to secure investment from a panel of venture capitalists.
This program is really new and original, well, to be honest, I’ve seen nothing like this before, and at the same time, it’s also highly educational.
One of the most important things I’ve picked up is how to properly get ideas across in business settings, and this is something I couldn’t get hold of in my previous learning experiences. I mean, most of the time, we are learning academic English. And even when we watch popular TV soaps, we learn everyday English, and of course, when we watch Downton Abbey, we learn Shakespeare English. Anyway, watching Dragon’s Den is a practical way to learn authentic Business English, especially for students like me, who are seriously thinking about blending into the British society.
On top of that, I’ve gained valuable business and finance knowledge from this program. Whenever I come across a thing I am not familiar with, I would look it up online, like how they calculate a company’s value, and what IPO means. This is the best prep work I can get for my forthcoming studies.
In a word, I love it so much, and I’ve recommended it to everyone around me.
