In the light of the moon alittle egg lay on a leaf.
One Sunday morning the warmsun came up and
– pop!- out of the egg came atiny and very hungry caterpillar.
He started to look for somefood.
On Monday he ate through oneapple. But he was still hungry.
On Tuesday he ate through twopears, but he was still hungry.
On Wednesday he ate throughthree plums, but he was still hungry.
On Thursday he ate throughfour strawberries, but he was still hungry.
On Friday he ate through fiveoranges, but he was still hungry.
On Saturday he ate through onepiece of chocolate cake,
one ice- cream cone, onepickle, one slice of Swiss cheese,
one slice of salami, onelollipop, one piece of cherry pie,
one sausage, one cupcake andone slice of watermelon.
That night he had astomachache!
The next day was Sunday again.T
he caterpillar ate through onenice green leaf,
and after that he felt muchbetter.
Now he wasn’t hungry any more-
and he wasn’t a littlecaterpillar any more.
He was a big, fat caterpillar!
He built a small house, calleda cocoon, around himself.
He stayed inside for more thantwo
weeks. Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon,
pushed his way out and ….
he was a beautiful butterfly!
