Teachers’ Day In many countries , Teachers’ Day is a special day for giving thanks to the teachers .The World Teachers’ Day is on October 5th , but the date differs from country to country . Teacher’s Day is celebrated on working days in some countries . And in other countries , the day is a holiday . In Afghanistan , Teachers’ Day is in October . Schools have a holiday but students and teachers gather to celebrate at schools with special traditional food, cookies, music and presents for the teachers . In India , Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5th , because it’s the birthday of a great teacher who was also the second President of India . On the day, senior students in schools teach the juniors, to show their respect to their teachers. The day is not a holiday and it has a lot of activities . In China , Teachers’ Day was first on August 27th , it was Confucius’ birthday . But it changed to September 10th , science 1985 . On that day , Children bring gifts , cards and flowers to school and give them to their teachers . Some former students will go back to their old primary schools , middle schools and high schools to give gifts to their old teachers . In Mexico , Teachers’ Day is on May 15th . At school , teachers are given handmade presents , cards , poetry and artwork . Students take part in singing and other performances to show their love on the day . Class parties are held for teachers . In the United States, Teachers' Day is a non-official holiday on the Tuesday of the first full week of May. Many activities are organized in schools for teachers. The celebrations may continue for the entire week of May.
