Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp told reporters that the slain police chief, Steven Eric Disario, had been in charge of the Kirkersville Police Department for only about three weeks. Thorp added that Disario was responding to a report of the gunman, with his last radio communication saying that he had the man in sight.
