迈克尔•杰克逊亲自为自己写的墓志铭，用一段并不算长的文字，表达了对生命的理解和自我人生的总结：
“If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
如果，身边的人都失去理智，并将其归咎于你，而你却能保持清醒；…”
每年的六月底到七月初，在英国都要举行世界上最古老的网球赛事——温布尔登网球锦标赛。
即便你是一位狂热的网球爱好者，也未必能够注意到，在球员必经的中央球场入口大门上方刻着一行字。大家猜猜是什么？
“友谊第一，比赛第二”？
“发展体育运动，增强人民体质”？
“大英帝国欢迎您”？
都不是。
那行字其实是一句诗：“If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same.”
翻译过来就是：“如果，你能以平常心坦然面对失败和凯旋，并懂得：它们其实都是幻象。”
这首诗正是出自英国诗人Joseph Kipling约瑟夫•吉卜林《If 如果》，1895年，吉卜林为12岁的儿子写下了这首诗，并于1910年发表，该诗在1995年BBC公司观众调查中被推选为年度“最受英国人喜爱的诗歌”。时隔120年后的今天，罗斌，在湛江再次为你读起这首诗。愿此刻收听的你们，纵使天寒地冻，路远马亡，却不负生活。

关于作者
约瑟夫•鲁德亚德•吉卜林（Joseph Rudyard Kipling，1865年12月30日－1936年1月18日，又译吉普林或卢亚德•吉卜龄），生于印度孟买，英国作家及诗人。主要著作有儿童故事《丛林奇谭》（The Jungle Book，1894年）、印度侦探小说《基姆》（Kim，1901年）、 诗集《营房谣》（Gunga Din，1892年）、短诗《如果》（If—，1895年）以及许多脍炙人口的短篇小说。他是英国19世纪至20世纪中一位很受欢迎的散文作家，被誉为“短篇小说艺术创新之人”。
吉卜林的作品在20世纪初的世界文坛产生了很大的影响，他本人也在1907年获得了诺贝尔文学奖。他是第一个英国诺贝尔文学奖获得者，也是至今诺贝尔文学奖最年轻的获得者。
获奖理由： “这位世界名作家的作品以观察入微、想象独特、气概雄浑、叙述卓越见长”。
