Put yourself in others' shoes

Imagine you are the person at the counter. And this is your first day at work, you are supporting your education or paying your rent or providing for you family by working at McDonald's. And you need this job, so you take each order carefully. You move slowly to avoid being clumsy. You want to be good at your job. So when the queue clears up and the person ordering next, tells you to move faster or hurry up in a rude tone, your self-esteem drops a little, you fear losing your job and you also might drop a glass of Coke in your rush to get him his order. When you, the person who is ordering, already understands the dilemma of the person at the counter, it can be said that you have put yourself in his shoes. When you put yourself in somebody's shoes, you understand the situation better and prove that we live in a civilized society.
