介绍:
Chinese children's fiction writer Cao Wenxuan has won the Hans Christian Andersen Prize 2016 at the Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy. Cao is the first Chinese writer ever to be shortlisted and win the prize, which is the highest international recognition for children-books' authors and illustrators. The prize has been awarded since 1956 by the International Board on Books for Young People, the leading international organization in promoting children's books. It is given every other year to a living author and illustrator. The laureates can only be awarded once in their lifetimes. The selection criteria for the Prize include a works' aesthetic and literary qualities as well as the ability to see things from a children's point of view. For the 2016 award, 28 authors and 29 illustrators were nominated back in March. Cao, renowned for "Grass Hut," and "Fire Mark" was among five shortlisted finalists.
