Chapter 1-01： The Deepest Memories 文章：(中文意思请听节目) What is that sound？ Mum lifts the door handle and opens the door quietly. She looks into her bedroom. In the moonlight through the open window, an owl is striking aloud its wings against each other continually, hopping on a timber chest in a corner of the room. Mum steps backward a bit in surprise and follows the owl’s glittering sharp eyes down to the chest. The owl halts, erects its expanded tail and flies away through the window, leaving a silver feather in the air. Mum’s intuition tells her that the owl’s visit is related to the grey chest. The arrangement of furniture in the room makes it hardly visible. Mum lights a wax candle and sits next to the chest. Its surface is covered with dust and its lid is tightly closed. She hasn’t touched the chest for a long time. While mum tries to remove the glue and pull the old seal off, her memories slowly come back. Frosty and I are playing in the garden with our old dog, Woof. “Rusty, look over there, a big bird! Frosty points to a bird that is flying away.” “Is that an owl? ” I ask, “Do you know that an owl can sleep during flight?” Before Frosty replies, our dog begins to howl at the bird and run around in circles. “Woof sounds like a wolf right now,” says Frosty. “Yeah, it is strange, ” I say. Woof lifts his lower jaw up and extends his head to an upright position. “Like he is seeing an old fellow and a visiting former friend, Woof seems pretty excited and cheerful, ” Frosty makes a joke.
