介绍:
Now I would like to talk a little bit more about the email contact skills here. Since now we often contact with professors and students here through the Email. The first thing we should pay attention to is politeness, a very important thing here. Usually, in the email, especially the first one, the first sentence is some greetings, like 'Wish you have had a great weekend'. Then we need to introduce ourselves. Please do NOT list all your accomplishments there, since NO professor will have the time to read it and such things will just make them annoyed and decrease your impression points. Just simply ”I am..., a senior in ... University, majored in ... I am interested in... (your direction)”. That’s all. Even GPA is a surplus. In the professors' eyes, they want to see in communication is your “potential”. Then you can simply say why you send the email to him/her, like because of some article, his/her research interests, etc. Then post a little bit of your own opinions in this field. Then ask for his/her instruction or opinions. Show your real intention to “learn” in the email, and don't make them feel you are doing this just because you want to enter into the school. Then at the end, just greetings, too. And, please keep your sentences concise and be sure the email can be read clearly in 1 minute and can be answered in a few sentences. Please don’t pose difficult or very broad questions; the profs will not answer such email. Or you can just say :”is there any books or research sources you can recommend to me for this question?” If the professors do not answer your email, please do NOT bomb their mailbox… Just send a brief one again a few days later to see whether they have received your email and simply reiterate your question. And, do Not attach files to email. All things you want to say should be in the email text. Or your email may be seen as virus~~ About the title, do not leave it blank. You can say things like “Could you please give me research suggestions about ...?” Often, the professors do not remember all his students, so with this title, it is seems from one student of his. Thus your email will not directly go to the trash box. Keep polite and respectful in all your emails with the professors. Be sure you have the title, beginning, text, end, and greetings always. Keep your full contact information clear in your email signature place, which makes you more professional. For sum, just keep going, even just one step is better than standing still. If you have any question or need any help, no matter in HR or Finance field, please feel free to contact me. My Email is: spritney@hotmail.com (Also MSN)
