寒暑假期间，西方学生都会参加什么活动？

♬主播：Wendi（中国）+ Erin（美国） ♬ 歌曲 ：I’m Coming Home Winter break（ 寒假）已经到来了，国内的学生寒假是一定要finish their homework for the break（完成假期作业），有些学生还会take some classes（上课），也有些学生会由家长带着去旅游。那美国的学生放了寒假或暑假都做什么呢？ 01.Going on vacation 去旅行 One common activity students do during their break is going on vacation! 在假期期间，学生们比较常有的一项活动就是going on vacation（旅行）。 有一些学生会take family vacations to other states or other countries（和家人去其他州或其他国家度假）。 一些人会去 tropical places（热带地区），比如说Cancun（坎昆）或者是Hawaii（夏威夷），也有一些人喜欢go to ski resorts（去滑雪胜地）。 • resort 度假胜地 02.Catching up with friends 找朋友叙旧、聊天 学生们另外一个比较喜欢参加的活动是 catching up with friends（找朋友叙叙旧，聊聊天），尤其是对于那些college students（大学生）来说，他们回到家乡后，就会hangout with some old friends（和一些老朋友出去玩）。 They do all kinds of activities，比如说 going to the mall（逛商场），going to the movies（看电影），或者只是going out for a meal（出去吃个饭）。 最重要的就是to enjoy your friends company（享受朋友的陪伴）。 03. Going to a camp 参加营地活动 这些营地活动会有一些室外活动，比如canoeing（划皮划艇），swimming, roasting marshmallows（烤棉花糖） 以及hiking（徒步）。That sounds fun! 也有一些营地会focus on specific activities（有一些针对性的特定项目），比如说，会有theater camp（戏剧营），writing camp（写作营），还有swimming camp（游泳营）。 这些营地的开放对象是那些有specific talents（某方面才能）的学生，或者是那些想在假期里improve at something they are passionate about（提升他们所热爱的东西）的学生。 主播Erin小时候就和弟弟一块儿去过一个hockey camp（冰球营），他们虽然是初学者，但在这个营地学到了so much about hockey and ice skating。Erin去的这个营地，每天的开营时间大约是从早上8点到下午4、5点，that is a long time。 很多家长都会选择send kids to camps during breaks，因为他们白天要工作，they don’t want their children to just be sitting alone at home（不想让孩子一个人在家呆一天），而这些camps就提供了很好的选择，camp is both entertaining for the children（既能给孩子带来乐趣），也能creates less stress for parents（减少父母的压力）。 04. Taking a class 上课 很多学生因为对学校取得的成绩不满意，他们会sign up for the same class at a local community college（在当地的社区大学报名上同样的课程），希望get a better grade。他们重考的这个成绩是可以替换掉他们在学校的成绩的，这样的话，they will have a better grade on their transcript（他们的成绩单上会有更好的成绩）。 • transcript /ˈtrænskrɪpt/ < 美 > 成绩单 也有一些学生会在假期里上课提前学明天夏天要修的课程，if they pass it in the summer，在新的学年，they can free up a space in their schedule to take another course（他们可以在课程表中腾出时间去上另一门课程）。 05. Working a part time job打工 一些大一点的学生会 spend the break working a part time job（在假期做兼职工作），他们可能会work at restaurants（在餐馆工作），也可能会做retail jobs（零售工作）。 差不多15或16岁就可以做兼职工作了。比如Erin的弟弟，he is turning 15 soon（马上就要15岁了），他就打算暑假里去找个兼职工作。 最后是所有学生都会做的事，just staying at home and relaxing（呆在家躺平）。平时在学校里there’s so much work（课业压力很大），所以学生们在假期都会选择being relaxed，比如说watch television and catch up on sleep（看电视和睡觉）。
