After a very long, slow journey, the merchants finally reach a big market place with plenty of shops, located in the heart of a European city. It is in the early days of the Renaissance, paintings, sculptures and other art objects attract many visitors to the city, which makes the place a popular tourist spot.

There is no common currency, thus instead of paying coins or any other from of cash, sellers and customers sometimes swap goods directly. Skilled workers, such as butchers and carpenters, also come here to look for jobs or exchange their services. Pretty soon the market as a whole is being developed into a commercial centre. It becomes the busiest and most exciting place in the city.

The merchants begin to set up their booths while the camels lie on the ground to take a break. Although we are all getting tired, Frosty and I decide to take a walk around the market.

Frosty and I stop at a small cooking shop. The shop's owner is a hardworking Greek man, who is a former chef at a local food place. He has made more money since he opened his own shop two years ago.

The chef's shop occupies a good location in the market. It is at a crossroads where people can easily see it. The chef makes the most of its location, displaying advertising posters on raised ground next to his cooking shop. It attracts a lot of passing visitors to this eating place.

"Yipe!" the chef lets out a cry of surprise when he sees a mouse hiding under an apron at a dark corner of his shop. The mouse was enjoying itself, eating some ham that it stole from a wood grill. The chef picks up a broom quickly trying to hit the mouse. The mouse jumps out of the corner and runs away.

We order some garlic sausages. They are made fresh from a hot stove and taste great. Unlike a selfish person who feels no pleasure in giving, the chef seems to be nice. He gives us some home-made bacon for free to satisfy our appetite.

The chef feels a little pain on his left arm. He scratches the spot, some red dots then appear on his arm. The chef dismisses it since he thinks it is just a mosquito bite.
