Should we resist western festivals?
In recent years, western festivals like Christmas and Thanksgiving Day have become increasingly popular in China. The widely accepted reason for the popularity of western festivals is that they can make our life more colorful and romantic. Besides, they can help businesses to promote sales.
However, there is also a negative effect. A great many young people ignore traditional Chinese festivals, which may discourage our traditional culture from developing further.
As far as I am concerned, we should not resist western festivals. But I do hope the government will encourage people to celebrate Chinese festivals in creative and colorful ways, so we can keep up our traditional culture.
