This is a new game from Insomniac Games and is a reboot of the Ratchet and Clank series. This is an action adventure game featuring weapon-based combat and exploration. The graphics in this game are stunning, featuring colorful alien worlds. No two levels have the same look or feel, ranging from space stations to lava worlds to beautiful utopias. Weapons have always been a very important part of the Ratchet and Clank games, and this entry doesn’t disappoint. Each weapon has a unique style of its own, and every weapon has a unique role that can be used in any battle. What makes it even better is the upgrade system, which will make your weapons level up the more you use them and allow you to unlock further stat upgrades. Besides the wonderful weapons, another good point in this game is the variety of worlds. Different worlds have major set pieces, ensuring that every level does not have the same tasks. It makes the game feel fresh all the way to the end. Combined with the number of weapons available and the variation in combat, Ratchet and Clank is a game that can be played multiple times and never feel old. There are a few drawbacks, though. The story in particular is not very deep. You follow Ratchet, a common mechanic, and his friend Clank, a defective robot, on their journey to saving the galaxy. Nothing special here. The only saving grace is the characters’ personalities, which are fun and quirky. The humor is a bit dull, but is very good for children. Likewise, the game is not very difficult, but very suitable for younger ages. More experienced gamers should immediately crank up the difficulty. The variety of enemies feels great at first, but you will eventually be fighting the same minions over and over again. So, overall how is the game? Ratchet and Clank receives a fresh 8.5 out of 10 points. You can play this game for a long time and its shortcomings are easily made up for by its strong points.
