THEM: The Dinosaur Age 他们：恐龙时代 图：赵闯 文：杨杨 Chapter 1 · The Lonesome Triassic Period Ranging from roughly 250 million to 201 million years ago, all of the earth was in the time period known as the Triassic Period. At that time, the earth was only populated by a piece of land called Pangaea, which was enwrapped by the vast sea. Since the landmass of Pangaea was extremely broad and spacious, the moisturizing ocean air could not reach the center of the continent, which was then turned into a large desert, with the weather being unusually dry and scorchingly hot. Other parts of the continent, however, remained warm and humid. This included the two poles of the earth, which were not yet covered by glaciers. Under these unique climatic conditions, the ferns and the coniferous plants of the continent were increasingly flourishing. Such a preferential climatic environment has facilitated the gradual recovery of all kinds of life after the disaster of the Permian extinction. And dinosaurs were on the rise, getting ready to take over the world in the near future. However, they were still weak and vulnerable. To achieve such a goal, they must put forth a huge effort. On the way to realizing such a dream, silhouettes of their lone figures can be seen across the landscape.
