新题讲解之“餐厅”

Describe a restaurant that impresses you. You should say: where it is; how often you go there; what kind of food they serve there; and explain why you like to eat at this place. Student Answer – why you like it there ▲I want to explain to you why I like to eat there. Firstly, because it’s a place for most of our friends to hang around, we can enjoy a lot of activities there after dinner, such as playing card games, and chat together. We have a lot of memoryies over there. ▲Secondly, I think the atmosphere and the decoration there is really good. I always have a good time there. ▲Last, but not least, the food is also great and cheap. You can have a lot of great food over there. That’s why I like to eat at this place. I wanna say sth about an Irish bar and restaurant located 10 minutes’ walk from my flat. They serve light western dishes, like burgers, spaghetti, pizza, and salad, as well as all sorts of beverages. I head down there whenever I can. Usually you’ll find me there once or twice a week depending on my schedule. （It’s always busy and there are many people like me that are regulars there. Nearby there are probably six to eight other restaurants but this is the one that people gravitate to.） As for why I like to dine there, the first reason is their service. The staff are well trained and well-presented and obviously hand-picked. They’re chatty and genuine. From the time you sit down you’ll have a menu in your hand within 30 seconds no matter how busy they are. They’ll be back within a minute enquiring whether you’d like a drink. Your order is taken via a small tablet PC and the kitchen staff are notified before the waiter has left the table. The staff are unobtrusive, but roam the restaurant suggesting water refills, and clearing tables quickly. Everything is extremely efficient but unhurried. Besides, a couple of times every week they provide small free samples of new dishes they are considering introducing, and ask for our feedbacks. For me, this is always exciting, and I have never seen any other venue do this. It’s not just the free food I am excited about, it makes me feel invited, and our comments are valued. I guess these are some of the reasons that keep me and many others, coming back week after week.
