The Australian city has topped the Economist Intelligence Unit’s ranking of the most livable cities in the world for the seventh year — the first time a city has held the No. 1 rank for seven years.
The annual survey assesses 140 cities and ranks them according to their stability, health care, culture, environment, education and infrastructure.

Culture is really important. A festival director said, “One thing that distinguishes Melbourne from other cities is the average woman and man on the street will say that arts and culture are a critical part of the town.”
