He came to a kitten.
"Are you my mother?" he said to the kitten.
然后他来到一只小猫跟前。
“你是我的妈妈吗？” 他向小猫问道。
The kitten just looked and looked. It did not say a thing.
小猫只是看呀看，什么也没说。
The kitten was not his mother, so he went on.
小猫不是他的妈妈，于是他继续往前走。
Then he came to a hen.
" Are you my mother?" he said to the hen.
"No," said the hen.
然后他来到一只母鸡跟前。
“你是我的妈妈吗？” 他向母鸡问道。
“不是。” 母鸡说到。
The kitten was not his mother.
The hen was not his mother.
So the baby bird went on.
小猫不是他的妈妈。
母鸡不是他的妈妈。
于是鸟宝宝继续往前走。
" I have to find my mother!" he said. "But where? Where is she? Where could she be?"
Then he came to a dog.
“我必须要找到我的妈妈！” 他说，“ 但是去哪儿找呢？ 她在哪儿呢？ 她会在哪儿呢？”
" Are you my mother?" he said to the dog.
“你是我的妈妈吗？” 他向大狗问道。
"I am not your mother. I am a dog," said the dog.
“我不是你妈妈，我是一只狗。大狗说到。
The kitten was not his mother.
The hen was not his mother.
The dog was not his mother.
小猫不是他的妈妈。
母鸡不是他的妈妈。
大狗不是他的妈妈。
So the baby bird went on. Now he came to a cow.
于是鸟宝宝继续往前走。这会他来到了一只母牛跟前。
" Are you my mother?" he said to the cow.
“你是我的妈妈吗？” 他向母牛问道。
" How could I be your mother?" said the cow. " I am a cow."
“我怎么能是你的妈妈呢？” 母牛说，“我是一只牛啊。”
The kitten and the hen were not his mother.
The dog and the cow were not his mother.
小猫和母鸡不是他的妈妈。
大狗和母牛不是他的妈妈。
Did he have a mother?
他有妈妈吗？
" I did have a mother," said the baby bird. " I know I did. I have to find her. I will. I WILL !"
“我一定有妈妈的，” 鸟宝宝说，“我知道我有的。我一定要找到她。一定会找到的。一定会的”
