喔，让我们今天享受百花盛开的愉快，
让我们不去考虑远不可见的未来，
就如不用担心未知的收成，
就让我们留在春光明媚的现在。
喔，让我们享受白花布满的果园，
白天美得无以复加，晚上则是灵光闪闪。
让快乐的蜜蜂也使我们感到欢欣，
蜂群弥漫扩散在这完美的林间。
让突降的鸟儿使我们感到欣喜欢悰，
在群蜂的嗡营声中突然听到鸟儿的俯冲。
针嘴鸟儿如火花流星般冲下，
半空中停在一朵花前纹丝不动。
这就是爱，不会再有别的爱。
遥远的将来不是我们能够寻猜，
有决定权的只能是头顶的上苍，
而我们，只需满足于上帝的安排。

▎作者简介
罗伯特·弗罗斯特（Robert Frost，1874—1963），20世纪最受欢迎的美国诗人之一。他的诗歌从农村生活中汲取题材，与19世纪的诗人有很多共同之处，曾赢得四次普利策奖及其他多项荣誉，被称之为“美国文学中的桂冠诗人”，代表作品有《林间空地》《未选择的路》《雪夜林畔小驻》等。

花开的意义在于花开，结不结果并不重要，万事万物在上天的造化之下，全然被赋予生命本然的意义。这就是爱，人世间的爱。对于人类来说，永远知之甚少，遥远的将来又岂是我们能够简单寻猜的？弗罗斯特是个具有宗教情怀的诗人，这首诗也是春日盛景时对上帝的祷告。上帝创始之时，一切各就其位，各得其所。从某种程度上说，存在即是合理，人只需活在当下，大可不去烦恼与忧思不可寻见的未来。

A Prayer in Spring

Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid-air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.
