But really Rachel was just scared of the dark.
"Come with me,"said Mum taking Rachel&`&s paw and leading her to the big window. "I&`&ll show you something very special."
She pointed up to the sky and Rachel saw the huge, silver moon and millions of stars twinkling above.
"See how beautiful it is!" Mum said. "Even when the lights are out and Dad and I have gone to bed, the stars and moon stay up just to keep watch over you. They shine brightly every night to make sure you are snuggled up safely!"
Rachel climbed back into bed and burrowed down under the covers. She looked thoughtful for a minutes, but then she smiled and gave Mum the biggest hug she could.
"Night, night, Mum," she said as she closed her eyes. “I don&`&t feel so scared now that I know the stars are shining for me!”
