自2014年3月1日起，上海市未满12周岁的孩子不能被安排坐在副驾驶座位，未满4周岁的孩子乘坐私家车，应该配备并正确使用儿童安全座椅。
Starting this week, all children under 4 years old in Shanghai have to use child safety seats in cars.
The local legislation, which went into effect on March 1st, also stipulates that children under the age of 12 cannot sit in the front passenger seat.
This is the first local legislation in China requiring the use of safety seats for children. NPC deputies in Guangzhou have raised a similar proposal this year.
