Peach-shaped Kueh is also commonly known as Png Kueh. These kuehs are especially prepared during important festivals such as Chinese New Year as offerings to the deities. There are two main components in a peach-shaped kueh, the skin and the fillings. The skin is made mostly from rice flour whereas the fillings are made from precooked ingredients including sticky rice, mushrooms, dried shrimps and peanuts etc.. To make the skin, you need to divide the dough into small portions in the size of a ping pong ball. After that, knead each portion mainly with your thumbs and index fingers to form a bowl-shaped wrap. Now, you can add a spoonful of fillings in it, wrap up the fillings, put it in the peach-shaped mold gently and press the skin with your fingers properly. Next, knock out the kueh carefully and place it on a greased steaming tray. Finally, steam over medium heat for about 15 minutes. These kuehs can be eaten straight from the steamer or pan-fried for a crisp texture. Cam Zhang
