The Farm Once, at the end of a little dirt road, Just beside the pond full of toads, Stood a farmer, and he said, "My game's keeping chickens, dogs, cows, and goats.” He had a green tractor that was too old to drive. Beside his farm was a beehive. He milked the cows, and goats, too, And ate chicken meat and eggs to survive. He lived a rough life. This he did admit. One day, his hand the dog bit. The dog startled the cow that went after him, Who stepped on a little chick. The male chicken jumped up three feet high, Taking off into the sky. The dog knew he had done something wrong, So, he ran away that night. In the morning, the cow couldn't milk anymore, For she ran like a tank the night before. The male chicken couldn't walk, For his legs were sore. The farmer cried, For the chick that had been stepped on died. He was very sad, So, that morning, no eggs he fried. He was desperate at heart, When, one morning, he walked toward a park. He was just going home When he heard his dog bark. The dog's body had lots of foam, For days he roamed, The farmer thought the dog was poor, So he took him home. They lived a happy life after that-- The chicken grew nice and fat, The dog and the cow got along well, And the farmer even bought a new hat!
