Shanghai International Film Festival has announced there will be a special session this year, paying tribute to the late actor Leslie Cheung. The retrospective exhibition will give a review of the actor's career, and is planning to screen his magnum opus, including 'Farewell My Concubine,' 'Days of Being Wild,' and 'A Better Tomorrow.' Today also marks the 13th anniversary of his death. Rising to fame as a pop icon in Hong Kong in the 1980s, Cheung received numerous music awards, such as the Most Popular Male Artist Award and Jade Solid Gold Best Ten Music Award. And in the world of Cinema, Cheung was a highly acclaimed actor, with five Golden Horse Awards, three Cannes Film Festival Awards, an Asia Pacific Film Festival Award, and a Venice Film Festival Award to his name. Being one of Asia's most enduring stars, Cheung committed suicide at the age of 46 on April 1st, 2003 in Hong Kong. European director Emir Kusturica has been appointed as head of the international jury for the upcoming festival. Founded in 1993, the 19th Shanghai International film festival will build on its collaboration with the Tokyo International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival. It will run from June 11th to the 19th.
