The band Frères Guissé (Guisse brothers) is made up of three brothers who are known for their close harmony singing, melodic acoustic guitars and gentle percussion. Originally from the West African country Senegal, the band has been touring the world for decades. They have extensively toured in Africa, Europe, Asia and North America although their journey still continues. They currently are in China where they have been performing at the Guomao based Jen hotel while exploring the country as a potential new market for their traditionally folk-like music.
In this edition however, Nillah Nyakoa speaks with Djiby Guisse, the band leader and one of the brothers who is joined by their temporary member Tabou Diop. Tabou is also from Senegal but has been residing in Guangzhou where she also performs as a solo singer. Find out why they enjoy performing in China and what inspires their music.
