The moon was bright; a branch snapped, startling the birds.
The quiet breeze blew past a quartet of chirping cicadas.
The rice flowers' aroma promised an abundant year,
as frogs croaked near.
At the sky's edge hung a few stars,
drops of rain fell on the mountain afar.
There used to be a little tavern by the forest. Where had it gone?
Why there it was, just around the bridge a few steps on.
