介绍:
I ran into my teacher at the movies last night. He ran away when he was 15. She takes after her mother. I know I can count on you. He suddenly showed up. I made up the story. I talked my mother into letting me get a new phone. She looked the phone number up. I ran into an old friend yesterday. They are looking into the problem. I looked the number up in the phone book. I looked up the number in the phone book. I looked it up in the phone book. (√) I looked up it in the phone book. (X ) ★ make up: • I hate it when people make up excuses about being late. • We made it up after the game. • Her intelligence makes up for her lack of experience. • We need one more person to make up a team. • Chinese make up 50% of the class. • It was such a life-changing decision that I couldn’t make up my mind easily. • They made up a bed for me on the sofa. ★ Do you often use a dictionary? • Yes, I do. I can’t live without it. I reach for my English dictionary as soon as I come across a word I don’t know. • I won’t say often. I only look up a word whose meaning I can’t guess. • No, not really. I only turn to my dictionary when I&`&ve come across a word more than three times and still can’t figure out the meaning. ★ What is the most effective way of learning a new language? • I would say signing up for evening classes, maybe online. • I guess it would be to throw away the books and find someone to talk with in that language.Swot up on vocabulary, that’s the way to go. ★ What do you usually do when you are in class? • I normally listen closely to the lecturer, and note down the key points. • I never try to write down everything the lecturer says, because I will end up with so much material, and can’t work out what’s important. ★ What do you do when you are given a homework assignment? • I normally get on with it straight away and finish it early. • I tend to put off starting it until the last possible moment. • I prefer do some work on it immediately, then put it aside for a while. • Don’t judge me, well, if it‘s not an important assignment, I&`&ll talk a friend into letting me copy theirs at the last minute. ★ What do you do when you are on the train? • Nothing in particular, I normally just chill out and gaze out of the window • I sometimes buy a paper and catch up on the news. • I love reading, especially when I commute. So when I am on the train, &`&ll settle down with a good book.
