You should say: what it is; when people celebrate this festival; what people do to celebrate this festival; and explain why it is important in your country. I would like to talk about the Spring Festival, which is the most important festival for Chinese people. The spring festival is to China what Christmas is to Western countries. It falls on the first day of the first lunar month, often about one month later than the Gregorian Calendar. The celebration usually lasts 15 days. On New Year’s eve, the whole family will enjoy an appetizing family reunion dinner, and watch the Spring Festival Gala together. On New Year’s day, people will eat dumplings for breakfast. After that, they will pay New Year’s calls on their friends and relatives. I would say that people attach great importance to the Spring Festival, as it’s a festival for reunion. People will make every effort to go back for reunion no matter how far away they are from home. For Chinese, there is nothing like spending time with their families after a year’s hard work. Moreover, it marks the beginning of a new year, to some extent, it represents the hopes of Chinese for the coming year. To “ensure” good luck, a lot of Chinese would do something auspicious over the holiday. Most people choose to make New Year’s resolutions and plans for the next year. Some people would crowd into temples to make wishes or pray for health and harmony for their families.  (The Spring Festival was my favorite festival when I was little, since I could wear new clothes and get red packets from elders, I could spend the money buying whatever I want. How I miss those good old days.)
