A 26-year-old Shanghainese woman this week, left her boyfriend after she saw what his parents served for Chinese New Year. The woman said she knew her boyfriend was from a modest background in Jiangxi, but didn’t imagine exactly how poor it was until visiting this past week. Some of them said “This girl claimed she is from a decent family but what she did shows no respect to the man’s family and her behavior shows a lack of manners. Others defended her and pointed out that two individuals should see eye-to-eye on issues of wealth and lifestyle before marrying. SO this girl did the right thing. Having equal values is the basis for living together.
