4-23麦克风 Former first lady Barbara Bush has died at age 92 after her decision to stop receiving medical treatment. The former first lady had recently undergone a series of hospitalizations. Her husband George H.W. Bush is now 93 years old and struggles with a Parkinson’s-like disease. It forces him to use a wheelchair and makes it hard for him to speak. They served as President and First Lady from 1989 to 1993. “It isn’t what you think the White House is like. It’s a family place, if you make it thus. And we did.” The Bush matriarch was born Barbara Pierce in 1925 and grew up in Rye, N.Y. She met George H.W. Bush in 1941, and they married in 1945, after he returned from World War II. They had six kids together, including President George W. Bush and 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush. As first lady, she focused on literacy and helped develop the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.
