Guest: 项雪颖 Sharing Topic: what can volunteering help? B: Hello, this, we, I ,and today our guest is Sharing! To be honest, Sharing is one of people I adore in my college life. She is sanguine and lovable, always bring positive power to us~ She studies hard and enjoys full-filled extra-curriculum activities! Okay I have said too much in the beginning this time. Let’s warmly welcome! S: hello,I am Sharing from economic management institute. I enjoy singing and listening music in my daily life.(B: Yes I know, there will be another concert in our dorm tonight, right?) Yes! So whose concert it will be? (Uhm…. Let’s finish our program first. As the one who spend least time in our dorm, what do you do in your spare time except singing?)To grow mushroom maybe.(LOL) also I take part in voluntary activities in HDJ every week. B: Every weekend you gets up early to go on the volunteering trip, so can you share something about this to appeal more of us to gets up early with you~ S: Are you sure you can get up early?(B: oh spare me ) At first I apply to join HDJ because I heard that it can provide me with a chance to aid education in summer, which is I had been long for. As you said, we go out every week to visit those in need of company and conversations. B: Do you still remember your first volunteer experience? S: Still remember! The nursing home is so far from school that I can’t forget it. (B:hhh) We need to take the crowded bus for dozens of stations and then walked for half an our to get the nursing home. Even though, we are delighted and can’t wait to see the old. Most of the old are grey-haired, wrinkled and even disabled. But seeing our coming they just smile with great pleasure. Actually they remind me of my grandparents in my distant home at that time. Frankly, having studied far away from home for several years, the chance to visit my grandparents is rare and precious, I always feel sorry for them. Seeing this grandma and grandpa is like to see my own grandparents. B: I feel kind of shamed for even living in the same city with my grandparents, I seldom pay visit to them. You remind me that I should spend more time with them. and I remembered one day you were in sentiment after returning from the nursing homes. What impressed you or touch you so? S:Oh that day?!i got it. yeah, that day I chatted with the grandmother as usual. But by accident ,we talked about her family.it is my fault to ask grandmother why she lives in the nursing home instead of at home. And then I found her eyes were shinning with tears, she complained that her son and daughter in-law thought she was a burden for them when she stayed at their home. And if grandma’s husband had not passed away so early, living her alone, she would not live in her son’s home.””How could your son drive you out?”I asked .”because her daughter in law is bad-tempered, always in opposition to her and always shouted at her even hit her. Her son’s wife even didn’t allow her to speak too much to her son ! locked her in the room. B: it’s out of my imagine that the son can be so selfish. Actually I believe this things will only happen in plays or movies. S:yes, i was shocked when I first heard about this. how could a son treated his mom so badly. ?! mom gave him life and had raised him up for so many years, not complaining about anything. raising parents is not only their legal obligation, but also their moral responsibility . I believe if they treated their parents just in that way, their children would be influenced and also follow them sooner or later .that was the bad result I wouldn’t expect. B: The world can spin so madly and there are always things unexpected to confront, so in my opinion every one gone through years of practice of life is a hero and should be respected. and we can definitely learn something from the things they told. S: That’s true! every time when I talked with grandma, I felt as if she was teaching me sth vividly by her experience. can you imagine she even talked about love with us? hahaha, because though we are in our teenager now, she encouraged us to learn to love and express our love .”no matter what the result will be, to love and to care will help you grow up faster and better. but when you choose the boy who will live together, you should think carefully ,if you are surely matched for marriage.” So I benefited a lot from what the grandma had told me. B: Oh She is a lovely old lady! (S:yes) Maybe next we can talk about aid education which you have longed for.Sorry I cant remember whether you went to aid education last summer vacation? S: No but, I have tried distance-education last semester, and it is what I mainly focus to do in this term. The feeling to teach little kids is different from getting alone with grandparents. Though born in remote mountainous area, the kids are all positive and active. Every time when I raised a question, they all strived to be the first one to answer it. And every time, when I taught them a pretty song, they loved the song a lot and sing it together loudly. Even if I cant see them face to face, through the computer I am inspired by their great passion and energy. There was a time when there is a power-cut during the distance teaching. I was upset for I have prepared with lot of time and energy for it. But it occurred to me that for the kids in mountainous areas, power-cut is like three meals a day, they need candles to light up their tables. Everything is uncertain for them. B: So among all that uncertainty, your teaching is really a big feast for them. To be honest, there was a time I thought this kind of volunteering activities are useless, because this temporary company and enlightment work as to light the hope for the needy, however they can never seize the hope. But from guys like you I found out that even the transient comfort can make a different. For no matter the aged or the young, they need to communicate with others, need accesses to their outside world. So I wonder as a regular volunteer, in what way, do you think volunteering can help? S: As a matter of fact. volunteering activities is not most people think, funny and interesting. after a year’s volunteering activity .i gradually understand what my predecessor had told me a year ago ” persistence matters more than ideas”. truly, at first you would be keen to do this volunteering activity because of temporary passion. but how could you insist on it after you found it was a boring and vapidity process, for every weekend , you go to the nursing home and only chat to this old .maybe the same topic you need to talk to different old once and once again. Sometimes we would also feel discouraged and want to give up ,but we can’t and we shouldn’t. I insist that ,maybe, this weekly company and conversation is boring for us ,but for them ,it is a big pleasure and a great joy. And I know ,on every Sunday, this grandparents will get up early and wait for us. that is what drives me and inspires me. B: uhm… Can I go with you nest week? S: Sure. We are always welcome new volunteers coming~ B: Thanks for your sharing. sharing! Wish everyone can find a meaningful thing and persist to it. S/B: Bye.
