Two medical services groups, China&`&s foreign-backed Amcare Corporation and U.S.-based Mayo Clinic have entered a partnership to open the first foreign-invested general hospital in China, amid growing opportunities in the private health care business.
Hu Lan, founder of Amcare Corporation, said that the hospital, now open in Beijing, will cater for families from the emerging middle classes, after market research highlighted a lack of premium family hospitals in China.
Amcare already operates seven private hospitals for women and children in China, but this is the first joint venture with a foreign business. Yu Ying, new chief executive of the hospital said that they would borrow Mayo Clinic&`&s expertise in integrated medical services to develop a so-called one-stop medical center.
The demand for premium hospitals has grown as the newly well-off are finding more and more the public system to be of poor quality. Many of the doctors at the new hospital used to work at public institutions but became increasingly dismayed at their shortfalls and inefficiency. To bring about a better and more patient-oriented service, the pay scheme for doctors will depend on patient satisfaction and they will not receive a percentage of drug sales, as is the case for public doctors.
The challenge faced by Amcare in attracting patients is that their services are not yet covered by any health insurance companies meaning all care must be paid for as an out-of-pocket expense. However, its reputation for premium service in its other hospitals has put it in good stead for the future as the private health care industry slowly opens up.

继和睦家之后，美中宜和成为又一家以妇儿科为支点，布局综合门诊的民办医疗集团。其旗下第一家综合门诊中心已进入试营业阶段。中心CEO是网名为“急诊科女超人”的微博红人、原协和急诊科医生于莺，她两年前宣布辞去协和医院医生职务下海创业。
2015年4月20日，美国华平投资集团与联想集团等机构共同投资设立的美中宜和医疗集团正式与全球知名医疗机构梅奥诊所落地中国所投资的惠每医疗签约，合作开办综合门诊，引进梅奥诊所的先进技术与管理体系。
关于此次合作，各投资方的选择并非偶然。2015年1月21日，美国梅奥诊所与亚洲地区资产管理规模最大的投资基金之一高瓴投资合作，共同创办了惠每医疗管理有限公司，打算通过这个新成立的第三方平台，向中国的民营医院输出梅奥的先进技术、管理系统等方面的资源。美中宜和正是惠每医疗成立后的首个中国合作伙伴。
通过此次合作，除继续扩张已有的妇儿科市场外，综合门诊亦成为美中宜和的战略重点。在此之前，美中宜和一直致力于为中国的高端家庭提供妇科、产科和儿科医疗服务，并计划把分院拓至深圳、武汉等地。
儿科、妇科、内科、外科、口腔科、皮肤科、耳鼻喉科等多科室门诊均被纳入美中宜和这家综合门诊中心的服务范围。与原先妇儿科医院的市场定位类似，美中宜和的综合门诊主要面向中高端人群，按美中宜和创始人胡澜的说法，主要是“中产阶级”。
胡澜表示，公司前期做过调研，证明服务于社区的全科门诊的市场需求是真实存在的，所以决定走进这个领域。同时，她也表示，鉴于国内的整体环境，医生还集中在公立医院，全面进入公立医院难度很大。
另一方面，“家庭医生”在中国是稀缺资源，官方力推的分级诊疗就因为基层缺乏优秀的医生而举步维艰。于莺介绍称，美中宜和希望打造以家庭医生为核心的健康管理服务，让医生上门，为社区服务，以省去患者不必要的麻烦。
市场的空白，就意味着机会。中美宜合打算在综合门诊中推行的就是“全面一站式医疗”。于莺介绍称，借鉴梅奥的团队合作式诊疗经验，美中宜和主张多个专科医生彼此沟通，诊断患者病情。必要时还会与梅奥的医生进行交流。
据介绍，多学科团队协作的模式也会被用于美中宜和的“家庭医生”服务。在这一服务中，家庭医生的主要职责就是全方位评估所有家庭成员的健康状况，给出治疗方案，并及时回访、追踪，打通从预防到治疗再到康复的全链条服务。
处于成立初期的美中宜和综合门诊，现在有约18名医生，20多名护士，医生中有不少都来自公立医院。于莺解释称，很多医生都认为现有的公立医院体制与他们所追求的“服务患者”的理念不符，因此选择离开。未来还有些医生会通过多点执业的方式进入美中宜和，但在办理过程中“多多少少遇到了些困难” 。
至于医生的薪酬与考评，于莺表示美中宜和会根据患者满意度而非看诊量评定医生业绩，让医生拿阳光收入、公平收入。
目前门诊中心尚未实现和医保或商业保险的对接。于莺表示，商业保险是第一步，对于医保也很期望。
