Downton Abbey唐顿庄园-Brief Introduction

Downton Abbey（唐顿庄园) is a British period drama television series（时代电视剧）created by Julian Fellowes. It first aired（公开发布）on ITV in the United Kingdom on 26 September 2010 and on PBS（美国公共广播公司（Public Broadcasting Service）in the United States on 9 January 2011 as part of the Masterpiece Classic anthology（选集）. The series, set in（开始）the fictional（虚拟的）Yorkshire（约克郡，英格兰东北的一郡）country estate of Downton Abbey（唐顿庄园）, depicts（描述）the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the post-Edwardian era（爱德华时期） —with the great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy（等级制度）. Such events depicted（描述）throughout the series include news of the sinking（沉入海底） of the Titanic in the first series; the outbreak(爆发) of World War I, the Spanish influenza pandemic（西班牙流感) in the second series; and the Interwar（两次战争之间的） period and the formation（形成） of the Irish Free State（爱尔兰自由邦）in the third series.
