A: Hi, Allen. Did you watch the CCTV news last night?
B: Not really, why? What's new?
A: It said despite the fact that China's population has
surpassed 1.3 billion, the government decided to alter the Birth-control Policy.
B: The Birth-control Policy? I had heard it before I came to China, but I never really understand it, what is it like exactly?
A: Well, basically this very policy is the reason for todays only-child generation.
B: So you are saying the firstborn is the only child in the family?
A: Right. The population explosion is a global issue and
measures should be taken to slow down this trend
B: That makes sense. So what's the new step of the
government you were saying?
A: Oh, right. The new policy is that if the two of the
parents are both the only children in their family, then they are allowed to give birth to two babies.
B: Really? That's awesome
A: Yeah, I guess our government is trying to refrain from entering aging society.
B: I see.
